Head of Shanghai Seismological Bureau Visit the School

On October 11^th, a delegation of five from Shanghai Seismological Bureau led by director Mr. Wu Jianchun paid a visit to the School of Ocean and Earth Science. A meeting was held to welcome the delegation, which was hosted by School Party Chief Prof. Geng Jianhua and attended by Academician Wang Pinxian, vice president of Tongji Prof. Jiang Changjun, vice dean of the university’s research institute Prof. He Bin, dean of the School Prof. Jian Zhimin and vice dean Prof. Yu Peng.         Prof. Jiang Changjun first extended his warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of the university. Prof. Jian Zhimin presented to the guests an introduction of the School’s recent works in deep sea researches and major research projects it is undertaking, and hoped that the School and the Bureau would have more collaboration in the future. Academician Wang expressed his sincere wishes to work together with the Bureau for promotion of the city’s marine sciences and to shoulder more social responsibilities in science popularization.           Mr. Wu Jianchun said that this was his first time to visit the School after he took office, and was very impressed by the outstanding works of marine sciences of Tongji. The Bureau would work on seeking potential cooperation with us from all aspects. After the meeting, the delegation visited our school’s Science Museum Undersea as well as the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology.
