Second Joint Committee Meeting of the Semester Held

In the afternoon of Nov. 17^th, 2013, the School of Ocean and Earth Science held its second joint committee meeting of this semester, which was hosted by Jianhua Geng, and attended by committee members Zhimin Jian, Peng Yu, Chunfeng Li and Shouye Yang as well as the School’s administrator Shunsheng Qin.

Issues concerning the School’s 2013 annual personnel assessment, talent introduction and recruitment of research engineers were discussed, for which joint committee members believe that the annual assessment should be made a long-term mechanism for stimulating the School’s overall works in teaching, researching and daily management. The School should also strengthen its efforts in introducing and training outstanding young talents making full use of its significant influence and advantages in academic researches.  Also, current progress of constructing “Seabed Resource Exploitation Technology”, the School’s new discipline was introduced, and a report-back session would be arranged soon seeking for solutions for a well-established disciplinary system.     

Other personnel issues including the University’s recent assessment of the School’s leadership, evaluation of professional titles were also introduced in the meeting.
