Member of U.S. Academy of Sciences Prof. Michael L. Bender Visit
On March 21 of 2014, Michael L. Bender, professor of U.S. Princeton University and member of the U.S. Academy of Sciences visited the School and the State Key Laboratory. During his visit, Prof. Bender discussed with his Chinese host Academician Wang Pinxian and Prof. Tian Jun issues of common interest in area of paleoceanography and paleoenvironment, and was introduced the overall development of ocean sciences of Tongji from Prof. Yang Shouye. A wonderful lecture was also given by Mr. Bender later of the day titling Seawater chemistry changes in deeptime recorded by fossil corals, which impressed the audience with vivid but profound illustration as well as precise analytical plan and reasoning.
