Founded in April, 2017, the Marine Resource Research Center at Tongji University can be traced back to the former Oil and Gas Resource Research Center. Its main academic areas are paleoceanography and paleolimnology, and deep sea and deep areas. With efforts to achieve sea-land, ancient-modern integrations and to combine geology, geophysics and geochemistry and science and technology, the Center aims at carrying out researches on structural and oil and gas basins, sedimentary stratigraphy and paleoenvironment, exploration seismology, integrated geophysics, natural gas hydrates, deep sea mineral resources, marine exploration technology and equipment, and strategy for resource development, providing theoretical and technical support for the exploration and development of resources in China’s marine and adjacent land areas.
